The African diaspora sends home tens of billions of dollars a year. Increasingly, that flow is shaping commerce at home in the United States too. Diaspora shoppers are buying the products of home from U.S.-based vendors, and diaspora founders are building the brands and platforms to make it possible.

From remittance to marketplace

The diaspora is not a market. It is a distribution network.
